Some say Aquarius is the “sign of Astrology itself.”
Sun Sign: Aquarius
Dates: January 20 – February 18
Symbol: The Waterbearer
Ruling Planet: Uranus
Aquarius women happen to be one of my favorites from the Zodiac because, no matter what sign you are, they seemingly carry a little bit of it with them. Some say Aquarius is the “sign of Astrology itself.” They’re accessible and unapproachable all at the same time. They want to be different, but they fit in everywhere because they’re so uniquely individual, it would be impossible to say that they don’t fit in. The 11th sign of the Zodiac, an air sign, they are open-minded, original, fair and futuristic in the best way possible.
Perhaps it’s because they are a fixed sign, meaning they are persistent, and an air element, meaning that they are strong in intellect and communication, and they are ruled by Uranus, the planet of change: so they somehow pull off a personality that is liberal, progressive, yet fixed in opinion. Their inflexibility shows up in the least expected places (which is in keeping with their penchant for unconventionality.) Aquarius women never put on airs, and they’re never impressed by anyone’s wealth or standing: we’re all interconnected, they believe, because we’re all human.
Aquarius moms are truly paradoxes: they are loving, affectionate and invested, but can also be aloof and somewhat cold. You can be stern, and strict when necessary, but also fun and spontaneous. Social and a loner, you do your own thing without much consideration to whatever anyone else is doing, mostly because it doesn’t occur to you to *be* concerned with what everybody else is doing. Others may sometimes take offense, partially because your genuine friendliness implies you would (or should) care about the consensus of the group, but you truly just choose what works for you; it’s never really personal.
Aquarian moms can compartmentalize the emotional things from the practical which allows them to be objective and gives an aura of being able to rise above the general human inability to reason through emotion. You have a built-in distrust of emotion and because your independence (of thought and lifestyle) defines you to such a large degree, what happens when your little moonbeam enters the picture? A traditional, structured part of your psyche you haven’t tapped into much comes to light!
You may be surprised to find yourself waking up one day in a center hall colonial in the suburbs having sold your motherhood-impractical car somewhere along the road to earn the name “Mom.” But your humanitarian side is totally taken with the frailty and vulnerability of your small child, and despite new, conventional (for you) tendencies, you still want your little one to have a unique childhood experience.
Many Aquarian moms create something of a bohemian bubble for their children with fluid schedules, artisan bread baking, imaginative play, plenty of unstructured outdoor time and alternative schooling influences to guide their educational exposure. You will walk the line of best friend and mom, teetering often more into the friend zone unless, of course, you feel like things are out of control. Aquarians rule the here and now, and while spontaneity is a large part of how you live your life, it always involves a sense of control and choice. You do NOT like to be caught unaware and when you are, that’s when your quiet anxiety rises to the surface and your more controlling side will step in, require time to process and understand all the consequences of a scenario before moving forward. No matter what, an Aquarian mom must maintain a sense of independent self, it’s key to her happiness in motherhood.
